Videos
We work with African and Caribbean heritage communities in Bristol to reduce HIV diagnosis, stigma and generally improve sexual health. We have produced a series of short videos based on our mission.
Talk. Test. Protect.
This film aims to bust myths around HIV and sexual health.
HIV: Talk. Test. Protect shows members of the community getting involved with researchers, healthcare professionals and other organisations to design sexual health services which meet the needs of African and Caribbean heritage communities. This process of co-production is central to addressing some of the myths around sexual health in an accessible, culturally appropriate way.
Created by Common Ambition Bristol, the major community-powered project aiming to reduce stigma and increase testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections by working with African and Caribbean heritage communities.
Date PrEP
Date PrEP – a trim with a side of sex advice PrEPster’s new film – Date PrEP – set in South London, follows Antonia and Andre as they each get a haircut in preparation for their date.
Seeking just a trim and maybe some date advice from their friends, the pair receive much more than they bargained for. Will they heed the advice? Will they get a decent trim? Will we find out the answer to the all-important question: “Flowers on a first date; romantic or cheesy?”
Breaking Barriers
The Terrence Higgins Trust and African Families in the UK worked together to produce six multilingual videos raising awareness of HIV and break the stigma associated with it – please visit Breaking Barriers – English – YouTube. The aim of the project challenges top-down approaches to health promotion and instead values lived experience and meaningful participation to create and direct interventions.
