When is best to get an STI test after having sex?

When is best to get an STI test after having sex?
If you do have symptoms, test as soon as possible.

If you have no symptoms:
🤜For chlamydia and gonorrhoea test 2 weeks after sex.
🤜For HIV test 45 days after sex.
🤜For syphilis or hepatitis test 3 months after sex.

For all STI tests come drop into one of our clinics. Our next clinic is:

▶ Thursday 28th November of the month @ Charlotte Keel Heath Centre 1.30pm-6pm (last check in 5.30pm)
▶Thursday 5th December 1.30pm-6pm @ Montpelier Health Centre. (las check in 5.30pm)

Let us introduce you to Edith (she/her)!

Edith is the Administrator @ our monthly clinics & has been part of CAB since Feb 2024.

Read below to find our why Edith is part of CAB;

STIs are very frowned upon within our society, they’re not very easily spoken about because people have stigmatised ideas about things like HIV without being educated about the medication they can take to prevent HIV transmission. A lot of people still believe HIV is a death sentence when it isn’t, there are ways you can protect yourself and others.
Common Ambition Bristol is a great project to educate our community on STIs and it gives me great joy to be able to educate people on such things. Growing up, I was never able to speak with own parents about sexual health because they felt I was too young but it’s important to realise this is the kind of generation we live in.
So by putting myself out there, I’m also able to educate younger generations who may feel a way about walking into a sexual health clinic to get tested or feel like it’s an embarrassment. When they come in and see people that look like them, they may feel more comfortable to open up.
